Inner Mongolia Cop Shot Dead in Front of Police Station
The deputy station chief of a police station has been shot dead in Tongliao City, in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China.
The murder happened on Sunday evening at approximately 10:40 p.m., right in front of the station in the city’s Horqin District, the district’s publicity department said on its WeChat public account on Monday.
Sixth Tone’s sister publication The Paper reported on Monday that the suspect, Du Wenjie, is a police officer from another station in the same district. The report was based on access to a written arrest warrant that has not been made public.
Du reportedly fled the scene, but Legal Daily reported on Monday morning that Du had been arrested. The suspected murder weapon has also been found.
So far, nothing is known about Du’s motives.
