Shanghai Sculpture Commemorates Jewish Refugees During World War II
Shanghai's Jewish Refugee Memorial Hall dedicated a sculpture commemorating the Jewish refugees who came to the city during World War II, Jan. 28, 2022. The sculpture, titled "Song of Survivors," was created by Chinese sculptor Lü Qizhang, who was inspired by Chinese-Canadian writer Bei La’s novel of the same name. The book is based on the true love story of a young Jewish couple who landed in Shanghai after fleeing the Holocaust.
