The popular dating app Tantan has been removed from Chinese app stores on Android devices for disseminating inappropriate content, financial news outlet Jiemian reported Sunday.

Tantan — which can still be downloaded on Apple’s app store and the Google Play store — told Jiemian it would cooperate with the relevant authorities to “check and correct” the violations, without elaborating further.

Tantan claims to have facilitated over 3.5 billion matches through its platform since it was founded five years ago, according to its website. In February 2018, rival dating app Momo announced it would acquire Tantan for $600 million. (Image: IC)
