A new game launched Tuesday by internet giant Tencent aims to teach users calculus — but within hours of its release, players have already slammed it as “bloody torture.”
Tencent announced Tuesday that it had partnered with U.S. game company Triseum to launch “Calculus Adventure,” which was first released in the U.S. in 2016 under the name “Variant: Limits.” The game, which is aimed at attracting young players to STEM subjects, has won international acclaim and attracted a lot of attention from schools across Europe.
But so far, Chinese players aren’t convinced. "Isn't our school hard enough?" asked one player on Weibo. "Does [Tencent CEO] Pony Ma think all Chinese love math?" questioned another. (Image: Triseum)
