Chinese police are loving Jacky Cheung concerts — but not for his music.
The Hong Kong star’s gigs have become an unlikely place for law enforcement officials to catch suspects, as they nabbed another person — the third such apprehension in two months, local media reported Tuesday. Police arrested the suspect after spotting him in surveillance footage during Sunday’s performance in the eastern city of Jiaxing. In April, another suspect was arrested in Nanchang, thanks to the facial recognition technology installed at Cheung’s concert venue.
Last year, police arrested 49 people at the Qingdao beer festival using facial recognition. In April, railway police in Henan province became the first to use facial recognition eyewear to screen passengers, and even catch suspected criminals. (Image: WeChat/Jiaxing Police)
