Shanghai’s health authority reported a new COVID-19 case Monday. The patient had arrived in the city last week from Qianjiang, in the central province of Hubei, where the novel coronavirus was first detected in December.
According to the official notice, 20 people who had been in close contact with the patient have been quarantined. Prior to this case, Shanghai had not reported a local COVID-19 infection for nearly two months.
Last week, health authorities in northeastern China’s Jilin and Liaoning provinces reported several clusters of COVID-19 cases linked to a single patient identified earlier this month in Shulan, a city in Jilin province. As of Monday, a total of 37 cases associated with the Shulan patient have been reported, according to Sixth Tone’s sister publication The Paper. (Image: People Visual)
