Legoland Theme Park Coming to Shanghai

    Nov 07, 2019

Shanghai is getting its own Legoland.

The international theme park costing $550 million is scheduled to open in the city’s Jinshan District after 2023, according to an announcement Wednesday during the ongoing China International Import Expo. Shanghai Legoland Resort is expected to be one of the world’s largest Legoland theme parks and will target families with children aged 2 to 12.

Lego Group has opened more than 70 retail stores in over 30 Chinese cities — including many second- and third-tier cities — in the past year alone, according to the announcement. The Danish company says it aims to have over 220 stores in 54 Chinese cities by 2020. (Image: VCG)
