A Chinese dating simulation mobile game has found a new love interest: a Japanese anime studio.
In a statement Monday accompanied by a promotional video, the hit game Evol LoveR — also called Love and Producer in some English-language media reports — announced that Tokyo-based animation studio MAPPA will produce a televised anime adaptation of the hit game. The anime series — which, like the game, is about a film producer and her four male suitors — will be dubbed in Chinese and Japanese, casting voice actors from both countries.
Developed by Nikki Games, a studio specializing in games for women, Evol LoveR became a massive hit with young female gamers soon after its release in December 2017. However, the game wasn’t available in English until March of this year, and the Japanese version debuted on iOS and Android just last Wednesday. (Image: @恋与制作人动画 on Weibo)
