A policeman suspected of gunning down two victims has been arrested in central China’s Hunan province after nearly two days on the run.

Officer Chen Jianxiang, 46, was arrested on Sunday evening in Ketou Township in Xinhua County, about 10 kilometers from Shangmai Village, where Friday night’s fatal shooting took place, according to a Weibo microblog post from the Hunan provincial police.

Chen is the main suspect in the shooting of a 36-year-old man surnamed Zou, who worked at the local education bureau, and a 58-year-old unemployed man surnamed Duan, local authorities wrote in a Weibo post on Saturday night.

Chen had a disagreement with both Zou and Duan, the authorities said.

Chen fled after the shooting, prompting a manhunt. Police had offered a reward of up to 100,000 yuan ($15,200) for anyone who could directly assist with his capture.

The local police and the Hunan provincial authorities are collaborating for the investigation.
